We wanted to take a moment to thank you all for an incredible 2019. There’s no way we’d be where we are today without the feedback, support, and amazing apps that you all have created on Adalo. And we couldn’t be more pumped to see what 2020 has in store!
We also wanted to welcome you all to our very first monthly newsletter. Our game plan is to include updates on what we’re working on, helpful articles, & even a brand new prestigious honor: the Adalo App of the Month! Before we begin with our regularly scheduled monthly update...
Perfect if you’re a visual person who likes to follow along at your own pace. Binge them all here.

Previously if you wanted your app to have a two-sided marketplace, where your users could buy & sell their own products & services, you’d have to manually pay them out every time there was a transaction. Talk about a spreadsheet nightmare! (But that’s not the case anymore!)
Now consumer payments can be automatically deposited into your merchants’ Stripe accounts. All you have to do is add the Stripe Connect component to your app. Then right inside of your app, users can connect their own Stripe account to get paid out automagically.
Probably one of the most powerful features we’ve ever launched. External Collections allow you to connect your Adalo app to APIs! Lists, details screens, even Create, Update, and Delete actions can all work directly with REST APIs.
We've got a great help article with more details here. Also our friends at Makerpad created an amazing tutorial connecting their Adalo app to Airtable. Check that ishh out!
Adalo now supports 135 currencies! That means your one-time payments, subscriptions, ACH bank transfers, and two-sided marketplace apps can now be available world-wide!
It’s really easy to set up. Inside of the Stripe component there’s a simple dropdown menu to choose the currency. You’ll also want to set any currencies you have on the screen so that they’re in the same currency as the Stripe payment by clicking on the dynamic number chip in the editor and selecting the currency from the dropdown.
Some sneaky people used to be able to get around filling out all of the form fields by just clicking submit… Not anymore!
On our form component, you can now choose which fields are optional and which fields are required. You’re also able to set what error text shows up as well as the style of the error state.
We’re always looking for simple ways to help you all create beautiful #uxdesign. So... we released Custom Screen Backgrounds!
On every screen you can now set a background by uploading any image, selecting how you’d like the image to get cropped, and then setting how you’d like it to get positioned on the screen.
You ready to take your app’s branding to the next level?!
Marco? … Marco? …
One of the biggest pieces of feedback we got after launching External Collections is that you all wanted the ability to use 3rd party authentication to create user accounts outside of Adalo. Either from your own API, or more common authentication methods like Google & Facebook. We’ve listened to your feedback & we’re working on it!
We’re proud to officially announce Adalo‘s first ever App of the Month: Chant!
CHANT is a platform to showcase creatives’ work, goals, and interests. A confluence of those already creating and those who wish to be. We gather artists in your community, expanding opportunities and inspiring collaboration.
As part of being awarded Adalo’s app of the month, Chant would love some feedback on their app.
You can download it on Apple’s App Store here and you can download it from Google Play here. After that you can click the link below to take a quick 2 minute survey!
There’s a brand series by Tom Osman where he’s interviewing people in the No-Code world! Catch up on all of the episodes here!
Free the night of the January 22nd? Head over to Times Square to check out the NYC No Code Summit. We'll be there! (DM us ahead of time letting us know you'll be there and we'll bring you some free Adalo swag!)
Full of a ton of helpful little tips to make your designs better — like when multiple similar objects are present, the one that differs from the rest is most likely to be remembered! (So make call to action buttons clearly different from other buttons.)
The great Don Norman has a new take on how to be empathic. “We simply have to understand what people are trying to do and then make it possible.” How’s this important for us? Well, we have to make sure to think what environments people are when they are using your app, what are they trying to achieve and always remember to have a “back” button just in case! 😉
