A Little Bit About Brian

I help organizations extend enterprise processes into the Adalo no-code environment. With more than 50 years of experience in computing, databases, systems architecture, and business applications, I specialize in connecting mobile users directly to business workflows.

My focus is not simply building apps. I help organizations design operational systems that connect mobile users, automation platforms, external services, and systems of record into reliable business solutions.

My expertise includes:

• Mobile data capture and field operations

• Workflow automation and orchestration

• Enterprise integrations and APIs

• Mapping and location-based solutions

• Document generation and reporting

• Route-based and inspection workflows

• Adalo, Make, Netlify, and related technologies

I am particularly interested in helping organizations capture operational truth at the moment it occurs and move that information through the business before it becomes delayed, summarized, or lost.

Whether you need field personnel reporting from the edge of the organization or mobile users accessing real-time corporate data, I can help design and implement a practical solution. Or I can help your people do it.

I am also the author of Truth in People's Hands: Designing Enterprise Systems for Mobile Timing and Distributed Responsibility.

Projects I've Been a Part of

KnockNot
KnockNot Builder
KnockNot is a mobile sales and marketing platform designed for home service and home improvement professionals who generate business directly in the field. The platform allows sales representatives and field personnel to identify opportunities while working in neighborhoods, capture photographs, document observations, and immediately initiate targeted marketing campaigns from their mobile devices. Instead of relying on manual follow-up, spreadsheets, or delayed office processing, KnockNot moves information directly from the field into automated workflows that produce measurable business results. Key capabilities include: • Mobile photo and opportunity capture • GPS and location-based workflows • Interactive mapping and territory management • Automated postcard marketing campaigns • Payment processing and order management • Workflow automation and business process orchestration • Real-time activity tracking and reporting • Integration with external printing and fulfillment services A significant aspect of the project involved extending mobile application capabilities through automation, mapping technologies, and server-side services to create workflows that exceed the limitations of traditional mobile applications alone. The platform demonstrates how field observations can be converted into immediate business actions, allowing organizations to reduce delays, improve follow-up, and create consistent operational processes across distributed sales teams. KnockNot illustrates how Adalo can be used as part of a larger operational ecosystem that combines mobile applications, automation platforms, mapping services, payment systems, and external business services into a unified solution.
DoggieSocial
DoggieSocial Builder
Doggie Social is an app that I developed for personal interest. Having rescued a dog, I needed to take him to a dog park for exercise and socializtion. What I found is that he liked some dogs and disliked others. Also, we would go to the dogpark and find no dogs at that time. So I developed an app that is a cross between Instagram and Meetup. People can join the app, communicate and post pictures. But the primary value is people posting times when they will be at the parks. This app has no commercial value, but it has created very lasting relationships between dog owners. And very happy dogs.
RulePoint
RulePoint Builder
RulePoint is a mobile-first compliance and property management platform designed for homeowners associations and community management organizations. The system enables inspectors, board members, and management personnel to document violations directly from the field using mobile devices. Users can capture photographs, GPS location data, notes, and violation details at the moment an issue is observed, eliminating delays associated with manual reporting and paper-based processes. Key capabilities include: • Mobile violation inspections with photo and location capture • Automated violation tracking and status management • Generation of first, second, and final notice letters • PDF document creation and distribution • Property owner and mailing address management • Bulk import and synchronization of homeowner data from external HOA management systems • Audit trail and historical compliance records • Real-time reporting and workflow management A key design objective was preserving operational truth at the point of observation while maintaining reliable business workflows and auditability. The platform demonstrates how mobile applications can extend existing business systems by allowing field personnel to capture information immediately and move it through automated processes without manual re-entry. RulePoint illustrates the use of Adalo as an operational business platform rather than simply a mobile app, integrating field operations, automation, document generation, reporting, and systems of record into a unified workflow.
