Releasing new features without proper testing can lead to regression errors and unexpected bugs that frustrate users. A structured rollout process helps catch issues early before they impact your entire user base.

Adalo lets you build database-driven web apps and native iOS and Android apps — published to the App Store and Google Play — from a single no-code editor. To ensure platform stability and reliability, Adalo has implemented a targeted and progressive feature rollout process designed to minimize surprises and deliver a smoother experience for all builders.

We have implemented a more rigorous code deployment process as part of a larger plan to reduce if not hopefully entirely eliminate occasional regression errors and avoid unintended surprises pertaining to edge case issues.

  1. Deploy to internal team for a period of several days to several weeks. These deployments take place within one of several designated staging environments.
  2. Invite Friends of Adalo to test the new feature. Friends of Adalo is the moniker given to a group of Adalo experts who are actively building and maintaining multiple production apps on the Adalo platform. We will then incorporate any feedback provided by this group.
  3. Initiate a progressive rollout, starting with 10% of the user base. Incorporate feedback and bug fixes communicated to the dev team via customer success.
  4. Increase rollout to 50% of the user base. Continue incorporating feedback and bug fixes communicated to the dev team via customer success.
  5. Bump rollout to 100% of the user base.

While this process does slow down velocity, we are already seeing a dramatic reduction in support requests associated with regression issues found in the legacy app environment.

FAQ

Question Answer
Can I easily benefit from Adalo's improved code deployment process? Yes, with Adalo's No Code App Builder, you can easily benefit from our rigorous deployment process without any extra effort on your part. Our multi-stage rollout ensures that new features are thoroughly tested before reaching your apps, giving you a more stable and reliable building experience.
Why choose Adalo over other App Builder solutions? Adalo lets you build database-driven web apps and native iOS and Android apps — published to the App Store and Google Play — from a single no-code editor. Publishing to app stores is key to marketing and distribution, which is often the hardest part of launching a new app or business. This major advantage, combined with our commitment to quality through rigorous testing processes, makes Adalo the ideal choice for creators who want reliable, production-ready apps.
What is the 'Friends of Adalo' program? Friends of Adalo is a group of Adalo experts who are actively building and maintaining multiple production apps on the platform. They participate in testing new features before wider release, providing valuable real-world feedback that helps improve the quality of updates.
How does Adalo's progressive rollout process work? New features are first deployed to internal staging environments for testing, then shared with Friends of Adalo for expert feedback. After that, features roll out progressively to 10%, then 50%, and finally 100% of users, with bug fixes incorporated at each stage based on customer feedback.
Will this new deployment process affect how quickly I receive new features? While the multi-stage deployment process does slow down the release velocity somewhat, it results in significantly more stable updates. Adalo has already seen a dramatic reduction in support requests related to regression issues, meaning you'll experience fewer disruptions to your app-building workflow.
What are regression errors and how does Adalo prevent them? Regression errors occur when new code changes unintentionally break existing functionality. Adalo's rigorous testing process across multiple stages—including internal testing, expert review, and progressive user rollouts—helps catch and fix these issues before they affect all users.
