The 'Make A Clone' Challenge

🥊 About the Challenge

Cloning is the most recent feature to drop from Adalo & it promises to make a big splash. From creating UI Kits, to tricky functions, or entire app templates — clones allow anyone in the community to utilize these resources to jumpstart their own app creation & learn from others how to use Adalo.

The Make-a-Clone Challenge, hosted alongside Makerpad — the #1 ranked platform for no-code education and community, is for all the people who are building cool things in Adalo to flood the community with resources that are well designed & highly requested (think creating a new chat feature, custom list, modal window… the list goes on). In the dev world it’s common to share what you’ve made, aka open source, in the no-code world, we can do a little bit of the same!

Use your creativity & functional chops to create a kit or template that can be cloned by others!

Bonus: select creations from this challenge will be made available to the broader Adalo community for others to enjoy!

📋 Rules & Contest Details

Each participant must create a Full App Template or a Cloneable Kit (either a UI Kit or a Functional Kit). | A Full App Template includes collections, data & screens and will be used as the foundation for someone else’s app. | A UI Kit specifically refers to the creation of UI elements or screens that can be cloned (think — here’s a cool navigation element I created). | A Functional Kit pertains to screens & databases that work together & can be cloned (think — here’s how I made a social media feed & commenting system).
Participants must submit their templates or kits by August 12th at 11:59 PM CST.‍
Participants can submit as many templates or kits as they would like, but judging takes place per submission, not per person.
Participants do not need to have a Makerpad membership to enter.
Judging will take place after August 13th. ‍
Winners will be announced August 17th.

What’s a challenge without a good little incentive? Subscription prizes will be given to the category winners — other participants’ submissions will be featured on our cloneable kits page for the community to enjoy your creations!

Complexity | Let’s be real, there are some really tricky functional elements to Adalo, does your kit address one?
Popularity of Use Case | How many people would likely want to use your kit?
Elegance of Solution | While you don’t have to be a design hero — making your functional kit streamlined adds to its appeal.
Bonus Points: Thinking Outside the Box | Does your kit introduce the Adalo team to something they didn’t know? (It’s happened before — y’all are smart!)

Judging for Best Overall Clone

As the cream rises to the top, so will the winner of this category. There is no specific rubric for the Best Overall, other than that it has to be a standout kit — good luck!
